It's been a while since my last blog as things have been really busy here but it has given me the chance to look back at my work and make some important decisions about where my art is going. I thought it might be a good idea to share how this came about and how I have been in a massive lull motivation wise over the last few months which is now hopefully turning a corner.
As we all know this time is a reflective time where we look back on what we have done over the last year and beyond and think about how we can go forward into a new year with a fresh set of goals and intentions. This is where it all started as I began looking at older work and which ones I was happy with and what sparked that old excitement of energy and freedom. I was drawn to several of my most energetic pieces, ones that only took a short time to create and so that is my intention to work more in this way and see where it goes. It never hurts to look back and to change direction even if it is just for a short time, as it is all valuable learning and will help to improve whichever direction you go.
We can always use this method to look at other artists work and spark something within ourselves to give it a trial, it doesent matter if it comes to nothing as there might be a little germ of an idea that comes from it that you can use elsewhere and in your own individual way. The most important thing is to be open to trying different techniques and not be afraid of u-turns along the way.
The seasons too are being reflected in my art making and how I love the atmospheric days and wild weather that Winter brings, it's almost as if I need to bottle it and store it up for the rest of the year!
Wishing you all a very Happy Festive Season and a successful and peaceful 2025!
